We’re upgrading a major sewerage pump station and extending the associated sewer network.
This $4.38 million project will improve the capacity, reliability and performance of the sewerage system, supporting continued growth in Shepparton’s south and south-east.
Upgrades at Sewerage Pump Station 56, located on Pertobe Drive, Kialla, include the installation of new pumps and switchboard equipment, along with a new odour control facility featuring mechanical ventilation and activated carbon treatment to help minimise impacts on the surrounding community.
A new sewer main will also be constructed from the existing pipeline at Archer Road (behind Mitta Court) towards the Kialla and South Shepparton growth areas.
Construction will involve a combination of underground boring and open excavation methods, including a bore beneath Broken Creek and a crossing under the Goulburn Valley Highway.
The construction contract for this project has been awarded to Girdwood Contracting Pty Ltd.
Some temporary disruptions are expected while the new sewer main is being constructed along road reserves and streets throughout the project area.
Traffic management will be in place where required to help keep motorists, pedestrians and workers safe. This may include reduced speed limits and temporary single-lane closures in some locations.
Access to homes and businesses will be maintained wherever possible. If works are expected to directly impact a property, affected residents and property owners will be contacted in advance with further information.
