Improving water supply for the Nathalia community and supporting future growth.
Goulburn Valley Water is building a new drinking water supply pipeline from Numurkah to Nathalia.
The 25-kilometre pipeline will deliver treated drinking water from the Numurkah Water Treatment Plant to storage tanks in Nathalia, providing a more consistent and reliable long-term supply.
Pipeline construction commenced late 2025 and is expected to be complete by early 2027.
All works are being delivered within our Price Plan 2023-28 capital program.
Nathalia is currently supplied by the Nathalia Water Treatment Plant, which treats raw water from Broken Creek.
The quality of this raw water has become increasingly variable, making it more challenging to maintain a consistent drinking water supply.
The new pipeline will connect Nathalia to the Numurkah Water Treatment Plant, providing access to a more consistent and reliable source of treated drinking water.
The project will also address challenges associated with ageing infrastructure at the Nathalia Water Treatment Plant and support future water supply needs as the community grows.
No. Water supply and pressure will continue as usual during and after construction.
Some temporary traffic changes, including road closures and single-lane restrictions along Katamatite-Nathalia Road, will occur during construction.
Pipeline work will be completed in short stretches to minimise disruption.
Landholders along the route will be notified of any temporary access changes.
Some interruptions may also occur on nearby roads, including Waaia-Bearii Road, Naring Road, O'Kanes Road, and Allens Road.
No. The pipeline is designed to transfer water to Nathalia and is not intended for individual property connections.
The plant will be decommissioned once the new supply arrangement is in place. Some infrastructure will remain in use
