We're delivering a new raw water pipeline to support Mansfield’s long‑term water security.

This project is the first of four identified in Goulburn Valley Water’s 50‑year master plan to meet the future water demands of Mansfield through to 2074.

The 9.7‑kilometre pipeline will improve the capacity of raw water being transferred from Mansfield's existing storage reservoirs to the Mansfield Water Treatment Plant.

The pipeline will replace aging infrastructure that is currently operating at its maximum capacity and relies on temporary operational measures during peak demand periods.

Once complete, the project will improve the reliability and resilience of Mansfield’s water supply, particularly during peak summer demand and changing climate conditions.

Construction will commence early May 2026, and is expected to be completed by early 2027.

Four projects were identified as critical to meeting future demand for Mansfield.

The 9.7‑kilometre pipeline upgrade is the first of the four projects in this program of works.

Additional projects in this program will be delivered over an eight-year period and include:

  • A second pipeline upgrade, connecting the Delatite River to the existing raw water storage at Ritchies Reservoir
  • An upgrade to Mansfield’s Water Treatment Plant
  • A new 200‑megalitre raw water storage

We'll continue to keep the community informed on the progress of these projects.

We’ll work to minimise traffic impacts as much as possible during construction.

Traffic management and reduced speed limits may be in place at times to help ensure the safety of workers and road users.

Landowners along the route will be contacted directly about any temporary changes to property access.

Yes. Landowners currently supplied with raw (untreated) water by agreement will continue to be supplied, even though the pipeline alignment is changing.

Please note the pipeline route shown above is approximate and for illustrative purposes only.
