We're investigating long-term options to secure Longwood’s drinking water supply.
The January 2026 bushfires significantly impacted the Longwood Water Treatment Plant and the surrounding catchment that has historically supplied the town’s drinking water.
While Longwood customers continue to receive safe drinking water, we are currently transporting potable (treated) water to the town as a temporary measure while long-term options are investigated.
Investigative works commenced shortly after the fires to help identify a reliable and sustainable water supply solution for the future.
What's happening now
A range of technical, environmental and heritage investigations are currently underway to help inform future decisions about Longwood’s water supply.
As part of this process, we're investigating a potential pipeline connection between Avenel and Longwood, alongside other considerations to assess viable options. No final decision has been made at this stage.
Where investigations may affect private property, we will continue to work directly with affected landowners throughout the process.
