We're delivering a new trunk sewer main in Kilmore to support long-term growth and development.
This major infrastructure project involves the construction of a new trunk sewer main to safely and efficiently transfer wastewater from development areas in southern Kilmore to the town’s wastewater treatment plant.
This new infrastructure will support the continued growth and expansion of southern Kilmore by providing the essential wastewater servicing needed for existing and future development areas, while protecting the reliability of services for existing customers.
Planned in consultation with Mitchell Shire Council and relevant authorities, the project will help ensure growth in Kilmore can occur in a planned, sustainable and responsible way.
Construction will commence in May 2026 and continue through to late 2026.
CURRENT WORKS
Construction will commence in May 2026 along Graves Street through to Lumsden Street following the eastern side of Kilmore Creek.
During this stage of works, the community may notice increased truck movements and temporary changes to traffic conditions along sections of Tootle Street, Graves Street and Green Street.
We’re working closely with Mitchell Shire Council and our contractor to minimise impacts to pedestrians, residents and vehicle traffic wherever possible.
Direct contact has been made with any residents and properties expected to be impacted during these works.
FAQs
A trunk sewer main is a larger sewer pipeline designed to transfer wastewater from multiple smaller local sewer networks across a broader area of the system.
While smaller local sewer mains service individual streets and neighbourhoods, a trunk sewer main acts like a major connector within the network, transporting larger volumes of wastewater to the wastewater treatment plant.
The new Kilmore trunk sewer will help service existing and future development areas in southern Kilmore and support the town’s long term growth.
No. Existing water and sewer services will continue operating as normal throughout construction works.
There will be temporary impacts in areas where works are taking place, including changes to pedestrian access, parking or traffic conditions.
Any impacts will be carefully managed, with signage, traffic controls and advance notice provided to the community.
