The 5km return track takes you through native bushland and up to the historic Trawool Reservoir — a scenic spot to rest and take in the surroundings.

About Gawarn Baring

Located just outside Seymour, Gawarn Baring (meaning Echidna Track in Taungurung language) follows the Falls Creek corridor along the edge of the Tallarook State Forest.

The track has been developed in partnership with Taungurung Land and Waters Council, Biik Cultural Land Management and the Victorian Government.

Along the way, you’ll pass through eucalypt forest, granite outcrops and open viewpoints across the Trawool Valley.

The track is a natural surface and includes some steeper sections.

RESERVOIR

At the top of the track, you’ll reach the Trawool Reservoir — a peaceful place to take a break.

The reservoir supports recreational fishing, with species such as golden perch and silver perch found in the water.

Two fishing platforms are located near the picnic area, providing easy access for visitors.
Reservoir history

The Trawool Reservoir was built in 1895 and played an important role in the region’s early water supply.

Today, the decommissioned reservoir forms part of the Gawarn Baring experience.
